Part of the order-to-ship workflow

Use a packing slip to confirm shipment contents once an order is ready to go out. If the shipment starts with a purchase order, or the work is scheduled as a work order first, link those documents together. Bill for the goods separately with the Invoice Generator.

Frequently asked questions

What is a packing slip for?

A packing slip confirms exactly what was shipped in a package — item descriptions, item codes, and quantities — so the recipient can check the contents against their order. It travels with the shipment or is included in the box.

How is a packing slip different from an invoice?

A packing slip lists what was shipped; it does not show prices or request payment. An invoice is the billing document that states amounts owed. Many shipments include a packing slip in the box and send the invoice separately.
