What an affiliate link is

Some links to tax-preparation or accounting software are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy from the provider, the provider may pay us a commission. You pay the same price whether or not you use our link.

These links run through the CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction) network. How clicks are tracked, and what is and is not stored, is explained in our privacy policy.

How we keep them separate from the numbers

• Commissions never change a calculator, a rate, a threshold, or a result. Every figure comes from the IRS or a state revenue department, as described in our editorial policy.
• Affiliate links are labelled where they appear, and marked rel="sponsored" for search engines.
• No provider sees or approves our calculators or articles before they are published.
• Nothing you type into a calculator is passed to a provider through a link.
