Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-19
This notice explains how USTaxTools ("we", "us", "the site") handles data. It applies to all users, with additional rights described for residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws.
1. What we collect
- Calculator inputs — wages, filing status, deductions, etc. These never leave your browser. They are stored in the URL (so results can be shared) and may be persisted in
localStorageon your device. We do not receive, transmit, or log them on any server. - Analytics — Google Analytics 4 collects anonymised usage data (pages viewed, referrer, device type, country/region from IP, session duration). See section 3.
- Advertising — Google AdSense may set cookies to deliver and measure ads. See section 4.
- Server logs — our host (Cloudflare Pages) logs request metadata (IP, user-agent, referer, timestamp) for up to 30 days for abuse prevention and debugging.
2. Your consent and controls
We do not operate a cookie banner, and Google Consent Mode is not implemented on this site: analytics and advertising cookies are set as soon as you arrive, not after any acceptance step. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Google AdSense's own consent message — a setting in the AdSense console, not something we control in code — may ask you to accept or reject personalised advertising; see section 4. Everywhere else, the control that governs what is stored on your device is your browser's cookie settings.
3. Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (property G-1DP05SMQD9) to understand aggregate usage. Analytics
cookies are loaded on your first pageview, with no prior acceptance step. IP addresses are truncated by Google before logging. GA4
retention is set to the minimum available (2 months event, 14 months user-level). We do not
cross-reference analytics data with any named individual. Google's processing is governed by its
Privacy Policy.
4. Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-8777600112471606) to serve ads. AdSense uses
cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites.
Whether ads are personalised depends on your region and Google's own consent settings (see
section 2) — we do not implement Google Consent Mode on this site.
Opt out of personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com. Opt out of other participating advertisers at youradchoices.com and optout.networkadvertising.org.
5. Cookies
A full list of cookies — name, provider, purpose, and duration — is on our Cookie Policy page.
6. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), California residents have the right to:
- know what personal information we collect, use, and share;
- request deletion of personal information collected from them;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising;
- limit use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect sensitive personal information);
- non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
Serving personalised ads through AdSense may constitute "sharing" under CPRA. We do not operate a cookie banner or a "Reject all" control, and this site does not read the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal. You can opt out of personalised Google advertising directly at adssettings.google.com (see section 4 for other participating-advertiser opt-outs), and you can block or delete cookies for this site at any time through your browser settings.
7. Other US state rights (VA, CO, CT, UT, and others)
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights similar to those under CCPA: access, deletion, correction, and opt-out of targeted advertising. Use the same controls described in section 6 — Google's ad settings, browser cookie controls — to exercise your opt-out.
8. International transfers
Analytics and advertising data may be processed outside your state or country (primarily by Google in the United States). We do not otherwise transfer personal data internationally.
9. Children (COPPA)
USTaxTools is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in compliance with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
10. Data retention
We retain server logs for up to 30 days. GA4 data retention is set to Google's minimum (2 / 14 months). AdSense retention is governed by Google's policies. Nothing financial you enter into a calculator is retained by us.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, hosting, or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
