Use a work order before you invoice

Use the work order to schedule and assign a job. If the job originated from a purchase order, link the two. Once the work is done, log staff hours with the Timesheet Generator and bill the client with the Invoice Generator.

Frequently asked questions

What does a work order document?

A work order records the job to be done — a task list, the scheduled date, the site or client address, and who is assigned to the job. It is an internal or client-facing scheduling record, not a bill.

When does a work order become an invoice?

Once the scheduled work is complete, convert the same job details into an invoice to bill for it. Keep the work order on file as the record of what was agreed and performed.
