How long benefits last

FloridaCommerce states a maximum of 12 weeks and a maximum benefit amount of $3,300 for claims filed in 2025 and 2026. Florida law recalculates the number of weeks from the state unemployment rate, so it can change for claims filed in later years.

Waiting week

Is Florida unemployment taxable?

State: Florida does not impose a personal income tax, so unemployment benefits are taxed only on your federal return.

Federal: Unemployment compensation is taxable on your federal return: the IRS says you generally must include in income all unemployment compensation you receive. Your state sends Form 1099-G showing what it paid, and you can choose to have federal income tax withheld by filing Form W-4V.

Federal tax is withheld only if you ask for it, so a year of benefits can leave a tax bill: the quarterly estimated tax calculator shows what to set aside.
