Oklahoma Property Tax Calculator

An Oklahoma property tax statement is the sum of local decisions: the county assessor's value on one side, and the levies of the county, city, and school district on the other. Homestead exemptions are a standard fixture for owner-occupied homes, and assessment protests are handled at the county level. To approximate a bill without tracking down every levy, choose your Oklahoma county above — the calculator uses its median effective rate.

  • County-level protest procedures handle assessment disputes.

Methodology

Rates are aggregate-derived from the Census Bureau's ACS 2024 5-year American Community Survey (total real-estate taxes paid ÷ total home value, by county). This is a statistical estimate, not a bill lookup — actual property tax bills vary by city, school district, and special-district levies layered on top of the county rate, and by any homestead, senior, veteran, or other exemptions you qualify for. Oklahoma ranks #26 of 51 (including DC) by statewide average effective rate, where #1 is the highest.

Frequently asked questions

How is property tax calculated in Oklahoma?

Your county assessor determines the value, a homestead exemption trims it for qualifying owner-occupants, and county, city, and school levies fall on the balance. The pieces total into the annual statement.

How much property tax will I pay in Oklahoma?

The levies in your county and the home's worth set the figure. With an Oklahoma county selected above and a value entered, annual and monthly estimates built from county medians appear.

Can I lower my Oklahoma property tax bill?

Claim the homestead exemption on an owner-occupied home first; additional relief exists for some seniors and lower-income owners. A county protest can also pull an inflated assessment back down.

Are property taxes deductible?

On itemized federal returns they fall under the SALT deduction, which has a cap fixed in federal law. Check the current IRS number.
